I was raised on my grandpa’s homestead outside of Beaumont, Alberta, Canada. I’m not a farm girl as we never had that much land but I am a country girl. I love the quiet of nature. I love going for a walk and being able to hear the chickadees and the red-wing blackbirds. I love looking out my front window to our pond and seeing the blue heron, the Canada Geese and their goslings, the many different kinds of ducks and the snowy owl that likes to perch on our roof come winter.
I consider myself a very simple, very basic person. My family and friends are very dear to me and I enjoy spending lots of time with them. I rarely wear makeup or dress fancy and my usual wardrobe consists of jeans, t-shirt and running shoes (and my sunglasses on my head much to both my daughter’s annoyance).
I started writing as a teen, mostly cheesy poems where every line rhymed. It wasn’t until I started reading romance at 18 that I started to consider writing one. But after a few years and hundreds of books read, I couldn’t deny the desire (or the fear) and began my first novel.
I love the happily-ever-after of romance books. I love that after sacrifice and pain, after tears and struggles my characters find the happiness they deserve. If you haven’t noticed I typically write strong women, often women a little ahead of their time (in my historicals). I admire their strength so much and wish I had some of their ingenuity and courage.
When I’m not writing, I enjoy traveling, reading, being with friends and family and 5 pin bowling. Not only do I compete in a regular league, I bowl in the teaching masters and also coach the youth program on Saturday mornings. Our dog Ty is great company and he ensures I get out of my chair at least a few times a day. In the summer I join a ladies golf league and in the winter I bowl with a great group of people.
My husband and I have been married 24 years and share
two beautiful daughters. Together we enjoy traveling and riding our segways.
